I create ceramic objects for the home that are meant to enhance the experience of the everyday. I challenge myself to create forms that add a certain element of intrigue and beauty to otherwise repetitive, predictable, everyday tasks. I want my work to exist as a partner in the events of a person’s everyday life. Making is something that I feel a deep need to do, but having the objects I make be used, either by myself or others, is very important to the continuation of my practice.
I am drawn to the chemistry of ceramics. I manipulate organic materials, exposing them to heat and different atmospheres to create surface and colour on my work. There is a simplicity to the medium that can seem complex, but is quite liberating to work in partner with.
